Originally named as the Model 77, the Boeing AH-64 Apache is a U.S. four-blade attack helicopter with a twin-turboshaft and a tailwheel-type landing gear feature. This attack helicopter was developed and manufactured by Hughes Helicopters from 1975 to 1984. The AH-64D Apache Longbow has a glass cockpit and is fitted with the AN/APG-78 Longbow millimeter-wave fire-control radar target acquisition system and a Radar Frequency Interferometer. The same version was used as the basis for the Japanese Apache AH-64DJP variant, which can be fitted with the AIM-92 Stinger air-to-air missiles used for self-defense.
